Coronavirus Policy

Northcliffe Golf Club Covid 19 Conduct Rules for Reopening (Updated 12th May)

Clearly, these have been trying times for all of us, and as we return to activity, there is a need to modify how we operate in order to ensure your safety as well as that of our staff.

With this in mind, we have implemented several guidelines that all players must follow in order to operate successfully and so that we can remain open amid this major health crisis.

Our top priority is the safety of our Members & our Staff.

We cannot and will not allow or tolerate any congregation of people out on the golf course or around the clubhouse or car park.  If found doing this you will be asked to leave & not be allowed to return until these provisions are amended to pre-crisis normality.

With that said, here are the ways we are changing how we operate and the rules which must be adhered to:

Booking

  • To play, on any given day, tee times must be booked online in advance of play maximum of upto 5 days in advance of the Member arriving at the Golf Club, effective immediately
  • In-person reservations for future tee times are prohibited
  • Members may only play with members of their own household or with another club member in three balls ( From 1st June)
  • Tee times will be spaced in 11-minute gaps to enable social distancing

Arriving at the Club prior to play

  • Members may only arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to their tee time to enable social distancing
  • The Clubhouse and the Gents Locker Room are closed until further notice
  • Male Members who have clubs in their locker must speak to the Professional who will retrieve your clubs. Your clubs must then be taken home after play and cannot be returned to the Locker Room until further notice
  • All Members must change in the Car Park
  • Gents may use the Ladies Guest Toilets in the interim
  • The Women’s Locker Room will remain open solely for the use of the toilets
  • Please leave the side door of the Clubhouse open when the Professional is on site
  • 2 metres of social distancing must be observed at all times, in the Car Park around and in the Clubhouse and on the Course
  • The Professional Shop will remain closed at this time. (15th June Re-Opening)
  • Staff will wipe down surfaces regularly
  • Alcohol sanitizer gel will be made available in the Professional Shop, around the Clubhouse and in the toilets and any other areas we deem appropriate
  • The practice nets, the putting green, the driving range and the short-game areas are all closed
  • The barrier for the Car Park will be raised on the arrival of the Professional and will be lowered when the Professional leaves
  • Only players with tee times are allowed on property
  • No play without a pre-booked tee time is allowed
  • No more than one group may congregate on any tee box
  • Informative signage exists throughout the property
  • A one way walking system is in operation and marked out accordingly
  • The Men’s Yellow Tee will be in front of the decking. The White Tee will not be in use to keep the path from the 18th to the Car Park clear. This should eliminate any crossing over of groups starting and finishing their rounds.
  • Arrows will be spray painted in the Car Park to show the direction of the one-way system

 On Course

Until further notice, the following provisions are considered acceptable on a temporary basis:

Forms of Play and Scoring

  • Initially only non-competition play will be allowed. There will be no stroke play competitions involving players in different groups i.e. Saturday Competitions and Midweek Medals
  • If / when competitive stroke play is played:
  • Players may enter their own hole scores on their own scorecard (It is not necessary for a marker to do it)
  • Verbal verification should be obtained to verify your scores at the end of the round
  • Members will be able to enter their scores online using their mobile phones or by reading their scores out to the Professional who will enter your scores into the system

Bunkers

  • All Bunkers are out of play
  • If your ball comes to rest in a bunker please take a drop at your nearest point of relief without penalty and proceed with your next stroke
  • All Bunker rakes, ball washers, bins and benches have been removed or covered

On the Greens / Completion of a hole

  • We have  new ball retrieval devices on every flagstick. Use your putter head to lift the lever and your ball will be lifted out of the cup if you wish to hole out.
  • Flagsticks must remain in the cups at all times -- NO TOUCHING
  • To minimise the need to lift your ball from the hole, your ball can be deemed holed with the next stroke if it is within 12 inches of the hole (which is just over the length of a standard putter grip). This does not prevent a player in match play conceding a stroke that is outside this length

Miscellaneous Matters

  • If your ball comes to rest outside of a hazard but in a position which means that your swing or stance is impeded by a marker post, a 150 yard marker post or a red/yellow marker post you may take a free drop at your nearest point of relief without penalty to avoid touching the post
  • If your ball comes to rest near an out of bound post the post cannot be removed and you cannot claim a free drop as per the usual rules of golf
  • At all times during your round members must keep 2 metres apart (this applies to when you are on the tees, walking the fairways, looking for balls and on the putting greens)
  • The toilets behind the 10th Green are locked and closed until further notice

Upon Completion of Play

  • Upon completion of your round all Members must exit the Golf Club immediately upon holing out their final shot. We cannot and will not allow or tolerate any congregations around the Clubhouse or on the Golf Course. Members who are found to have congregated will be asked to leave the Course and will not be allowed to return until these provisions are amended to their pre-crisis norm
  • Upon completion of your round social distancing must be maintained in the car park
  • Use of the Shoe Cleaner is prohibited
  • The Decking area has been tapped off and no access is allowed under any circumstances before or after your round

These rules are subject to change based on updated Government and R&A guidance

We’re thrilled to be back, and can’t wait to see you on the course
