Course Drainage Works

Over the past two weeks since we went into this third round of lockdown, the green staff have been busy out on the course dealing with a number of key drainage issues.  They have been slitting the fairways & rough. To see the video Click Here.  Slitting the fairways breaks up the compaction of the soil sub surface, creating channels and air pockets to help drain water away.

The greens team have also started on the maintenance, repair & replacement of our existing drainage network. A 25 metre section of blocked pipe from 14th fairway running into the rough towards the 13th hole has been dug up and replaced (see photos below).  A 20 metre section of blocked pipe on the 17th hole has been dug up and replaced (see photos below).

Whilst there has been one team of staff out on the course doing the drainage work another team have been in the sheds servicing all our machinery, getting it ready for a busy year ahead for our Club Centenary.
