Northcliffe Golf Club has a senior section known as the TOFFS - The Over Fifty Five Section, which was established in 1986 by JMH Sullivan, although hitherto it does not seem to have been formally recognised as an ‘official’ section within the Club, but regarded more as a ‘society’.
It is popular and well supported by its 55 members.
Membership is not compulsory and currently costs only £5 per person per annum to anyone meeting the criteria and who is a playing member of the Club.
There is a full calendar of events throughout the year, which are varied and plentiful.
Thursdays offer organised Texas Scrambles, Greensomes, Waltzers and Whisky Shoots to name but a few.
There are some 7 trophy competitions and 'away days' such as their Captain's Day and an exchange day.
The TOFFS also organise friendly matches against 6 other local clubs on a home and away basis, as well as 2 Senior Open competitions for the Club in June and August each year.
All of this is rounded off by an end of year dinner with prize presentations.
The TOFFS enjoy a good social life and fellowship as well as being regular attendees at NGC social and dining events.
The main thing though is that if members can arrive in time for an 8am tee on any Tuesday or Thursday throughout the year they can be assured of a round of golf in good company with the TOFFS.
